This site exists to showcase writing produced by enthusiastic students on a range of topics but predominantly, the beautiful game of football.

The work showcased here is the result of my work in various schools with a range of students – reluctant writers, passionate football fans and high achieving students – to work with them to improve their writing skills. The aim of such sessions is for the participants to not only find their voice when it comes to writing but also experience the thrill of seeing it published for all to see.

I am a football writer and teacher of English. I write a column for the official Nottingham Forest matchday programme, co-produce and co-edit the successful Nottingham Forest quarterly magazine ‘Bandy and Shinty‘, write book reviews for the Football Supporters’ Federation award winning football website The Football Pink and have contributed to the highly respected The Set Pieces website.

If you are interested in me coming into your school to work with your students in order to  work with students to improve their writing skills or deliver a workshop on the AQA (or any examining board) English Language GCSE course by using football as a stimulus, then please don’t hesitate to contact me:
